Details:
An intrepid adventurer’s nirvana, you will begin this trip in Rekyajvik, Iceland, where you’ll receive a full brief from your guides, map your route, analyse weather conditions and prepare all your kit before flying on to Constable Point in Greenland.
On arrival you will begin the initial leg of your expedition by spending two days dog sledding over Hurry Fjord, through the Kalkdal valley and onto the frozen Denmark Straits. Following the east coast of southern Liverpool Land, your journey will weave over sea ice and past icebergs, as you make your way through the shadows of a series of imposing, unclimbed mountain peaks, located immediately west of Neild Bay.
In a land too inhospitable for anyone to live in permanently, you will spend up to eight hours each day aboard your dog sled, negotiating the ice and snow and resting in local trapper huts or polar tents en route. Carrying all your kit, rations and camping equipment with you, this trip will test your survival and practical skills in the harshest of conditions, which have pushed polar explorers to their limits.
The next day you will then board a snowmobile and race across the snow until you reach base camp close to 71º north, where you’ll put your polar survival skills into practise and erect expedition tents. From base camp, you’ll traverse the surrounding landscape by cross country skiing and snow-kiting to reach the Northern Range. Here you’ll climb one of its remote, unnamed and more than likely unclimbed summits using a combination of ice climbing and snowshoeing, for an incredible climax to your adventure.
On return to base camp, you’ll then be extracted by helicopter and enjoy a stunning aerial view of the terrain you have journeyed through as you make your way back to Constable Point, flying over the untouched wilderness you’ll have survived within during the course of your unforgettable polar adventure.
